Canberra's famous political lunch spot is back on the market

Wild Duck restaurant site in Kingston hits the market with office space above

One of Canberra’s favourite dining spots, and an unintentional setting for political intrigue over the years, is on the market.

The Wild Duck restaurant on the foreshore side of Kingston, which closed last year, found itself drawn into the news more than once as pollies thrashed out issues and differences while enjoying its high-end Asian dining.

Now there’s an opportunity for someone to continue the legacy in this high-profile location on the corner of Giles Street and Eastlake Parade. In fact, there are two strata-titled opportunities.

First is the ground-floor restaurant space, which occupies 217 square metres. It offers a turnkey restaurant fit-out “ready for day-one trade”, agent Lucas Brinkmeyer of Knight Frank Canberra says, adding that it’s the perfect opportunity for an experienced hospitality operator.

“They can literally walk into a fully fitted restaurant and take full advantage of a thriving Kingston resident population,” he says. “It’s the perfect location for an operator seeking the ideal blend of business and lifestyle.”

The restaurant includes dining areas and a bar, a commercial kitchen, a cool room, a grease trap and an exhaust system.

There is a 404-square-metre space above the restaurant.

The second space is an upstairs office space ideally suited to professional services, although a permitted-use clause allows for other uses.

The 404-square-metre space offers open-plan working areas, offices, a staff breakout area and a bathroom with a shower. It can also be subdivided into roughly equal-sized tenancies
