Roxy Jacenko fails to secure $10 million hopes for former Sweaty Betty office

Roxy Jacenko’s bid for a multi-million dollar windfall on her luxurious Sydney office has failed to go as hoped.

The Australian entrepreneur last month listed the property that was once the headquarters for her public relations firm, Sweaty Betty PR.

Jacenko, who now calls Singapore home, had hoped the property would fetch $10 million or more at auction on 12 May – the same day as the Federal Budget.

However, her price hopes were dashed when the Elizabeth Street site in Paddington was passed in.

There’s speculation that sweeping investor uncertainty following the Albanese government’s proposed property tax overhauls may have dampened buyer appetite on the day.

During his budget speech, Treasurer Jim Chalmers unveiled the biggest changes to capital gains tax discount and investment structures in decades.

If a sale of the freehold property does eventuate, it will likely go for less than the PR queen’s original $10 million-plus expectations.

The building is currently leased to Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty and the listing is held by Colliers agent James Cowan. Nine.com.au has contacted Cowan for comment.

Jacenko purchased the Paddington site in 2014 for $2.66 million.

Working with architects SJB and designer Blainey North, the building was stripped back and rebuilt into what she described as “without question, the most luxurious communications office in the business”.

The property made headlines in 2019 when Jacenko revealed an early morning jogger had repeatedly defecated between two cars on the street outside.

Dubbed the “poo jogger” saga, the PR queen exposed the perpetrator by posting CCTV footage of the multiple incidents.

The Paddington listing marks another step in Jacenko’s shift away from Australia.

In 2023, she offloaded her luxurious five-bedroom, five-bathroom family home in Sydney’s Vaucluse for a reported $16 million.

That same year, she stepped down from Sweaty Betty PR and relocated overseas as Curtis focuses on his artificial intelligence infrastructure venture, Firmus.

“I’m now based in Singapore and have been for three years. With one of my children schooling in Switzerland and the other here in Singapore, a move back to Australia isn’t on the cards — so it feels like the right time to close this chapter,” Jacenko told The Australian Financial Review.
