Calvin Klein leases Broadway space for new underwear store

International fashion retailer Calvin Klein will open its next Australian store at Sydney shopping centre Broadway in August.

The company has leased 65 square metres at the shopping centre on level 2, which is in the midst of a $55 million redevelopment, for its men’s and women’s underwear brand.

Calvin Klein Underwear will join fashion retailer H&M, which announced in April it would open a store at Broadway later this year as part of a strategy to double its number of nine Australian stores by the end of 2016.

More retailers taking space as part of the 3400-square-metre expansion at the centre, owned by Mirvac Group and Perron Group, are expected to be announced in coming weeks.

Christina Nelson, Mirvac senior development manager – retail, said the Calvin Klein move cemented Broadway, two kilometres from the Sydney CBD, as a premier shopping destination.

“The centre has focused primarily on retail trends and by introducing a diverse mix of brands to Broadway Sydney, we hope to provide shoppers with an urbanised precinct housing everything they need from food and lifestyle, to fashion and beauty,” she said.

The new Calvin Klein store will also stock the brand’s Performance range of athletic wear. The company has a standalone store at Westfield Pitt Street in the CBD.
