Dating back to 1897 and now a commercial operation with further development potential, Richmond Grove Winery offers a piece of winemaking history in the heart of South Australia’s Barossa Valley, about an hour’s drive northeast of Adelaide.
With dual street frontage and a 27-hectare site, it’s one of the largest wine processing and storage facilities in Australia.

Benefit from an extensive set-up including significant infrastructure with three climate-controlled warehouses, 300 tanks storing 87,000 tonnes, four dams and a treatment plant.
“The winery was particularly famous for its limited-release riesling crafted by renowned winemaker John Vickery,” says listing agency Colliers International Adelaide.
Penley Estate, Coonawarra, SA
Penley Estate is a sprawling vineyard set on a parcel of land just shy of 120 hectares in South Australia’s Coonawarra, another of Australia’s most famous winemaking regions known for its rich red soil and similarly red vinos.
The label is the result of two pioneering winemaking families – the Penfolds and the Tolleys – joining forces, and it has grown from strength to strength after releasing its first wine in 1988.
The property, a four-hour drive south-east from Adelaide, is a grand estate with a stone-walled entrance, a cellar door, a winery, a barrel store and an office. There are plantings across 86 hectares and irrigation aplenty, as well as a manager’s cottage with landscaped gardens.
“Penley Estate is an Australian wine stalwart, renowned globally for producing premium wines on the famous ‘terra rossa’ soils in the Coonawarra wine district,” says listing agency Colliers International Adelaide.
Nightingale Wines, Broke, NSW
Nightingale Wines is a Hunter Valley trophy property that boasts a premium vineyard, a cellar door, a 120-seat restaurant and six luxury villas (with approval to build 14 more) and sits just 800 metres from the historic Broke township, according to Colliers International Adelaide.
The boutique vineyard, located about two-and-a-half hours’ drive north of Sydney’s CBD in the renowned NSW winemaking region, is spread over 22.5 hectares and home to more than 11 hectares of wine grapes, including shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and chardonnay.
The property boasts several irrigation dams, a 100-tonne winery and “unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape, including Adams Peak and the iconic Yellow Rock Mountain”, Colliers says.
Cottontail Winery, Wagga Wagga, NSW
Dating back to 2001 as the result of a dream to step away from the nine-to-five grind, Cottontail Wines sits in the Riverina, three hours’ drive west from Canberra.
It’s grown into one of the area’s best-known wineries and function centres, with a 150-seat restaurant on a parcel of land spanning more than 40 hectares overlooking the Eunony Valley. It has uninterrupted views of the sprawling country landscape, just a 15-minute drive from the regional city of Wagga Wagga.
A long driveway flanked by pretty olive trees leads to a family-friendly three-bedroom homestead with a pool, as well as a second cottage perfect for guests or Airbnb bookings. The solar-powered property offers farming infrastructure such as a cattle yard, hay shed, dam, and winery essentials, including commercial-size cool rooms and storage sheds.
“Cottontail vineyard is planted with shiraz, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon grape varieties,” and is the winner of various awards for its red, white and sparkling wine varieties,” says McGrath Riverina.
Cannibal Creek, Tynong North, Vic
After planting vines in 1997, the owners of Cannibal Creek winery in the Gippsland farming area of Tynong North are selling and giving investors a chance to reap the rewards after adopting a sustainable approach over recent years.
Located just a 75-minute drive south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, and fairly close to the Gumbuya World Theme Park, this offering comes with an architect-designed 80-seat restaurant and cellar door, a renovated home and a heated pool, on almost 28 hectares backing onto Cannibal Creek.
Available on a walk-in-walk-out basis, you’ll be equipped with the business and a 48-pallet cool room, a machinery shed and workshop, a dam and cattle yards.
It is described by listing agency Facey Property as “truly outstanding and provides a modern culinary experience whilst being within a laid-back, enchanting country environment”.
Formerly Panorama vineyard, Cradoc, Tas
On the banks of the Huon River in the pretty Huon Valley wine region known for its cool-climate varieties, an opportunity to acquire an “iconic property” awaits, according to Elders Real Estate Hobart.
Located with convenience at your fingertips and just 45 minutes from Hobart’s CBD, the former Panorama vineyard and contemporary winery is offered vacant with offices, a reception centre and a state-of-the-art bottling plant with a 300-barrel climate-controlled hall, as well as short-term holding income.
More than nine hectares of the 23-hectare property is plented with 90 per cent pinot noir and 10 per cent chardonnay. A 90-metre deep bore helps water the vineyard, which produces 40 tonnes of “super premium fruit”.
“Given the cool-climate terroir, this location is highly sought after by primary producers,” Elders says.
Granite Belt Retreat, Stanthorpe, Qld
Granite Belt Retreat is a boutique microbrewery, restaurant, and accommodation set up on almost 12 hectares in Stanthorpe, about three hours south-west of the Gold Coast, and has been crafting “refreshing and tasty” craft beers and ciders since 2012.
It also has 16 cabins with 80 beds, plus four motel-style rooms, which offer “huge upside”, the agents say, as they give visitors the chance to settle in for a session.
There’s also a small grape plantation, perfect for the region famed for its stunning natural landscapes and for producing some of Queensland’s finest wines due to its cooler climate. The Southern Downs’ fertile soil lends itself to growing apples, stone fruits, berries and veggies.
The property comes with a hotel licence, a bar, and a four-bedroom owner’s residence. Living off-site is also perfectly manageable, with an established management team and casual staff on the books.
“The Southern Downs region offers an outstanding mix of investment and business opportunities, industrial and rural locations and a relaxed country lifestyle,” says Tourism Brokers.
