Dust Temple: Popular Gold Coast cafe with a nightlife edges closer to $5m sale
A converted warehouse-turned-cafe hosting a thriving music scene is one step closer to securing its $5 million payday.
Following what agent George Bobolas from Clark Property Group describes as “truckloads” of interest, a potential buyer has emerged who hopes to keep the iconic Gold Coast live music venue and gallery running in a similar spirit.
Located just five minutes from tourist hotspots like Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and the popular surf break at Currumbin Alley, 54 Currumbin Creek Road, Currumbin Waters sits in a tightly held industrial precinct, around 30 kilometres from the Gold Coast CBD.
The current owner-operators of the 2111-square-metre property, known as The Dust Temple, are retiring after a decade of operation.
Surrounded by neighbours like the Balter Brewing Company and a growing mix of vibrant eateries, bars and creative spaces, the Dust Temple is a magnet for Gold Coast’s cultural crowd.
“The Dust Temple is primarily a cafe, but they also host functions, art exhibitions and vintage markets – and even have a hairdresser operating down the back,” Bobolas says, noting the presence of short-term tenants provides potential holding income.
“It’s a fantastic, creative space,” he adds. “It’s not little, actually – it’s big.”
The venue spans 1102 square metres of floor space and includes 12 on-site car parks, with access to 100-plus spaces after 4pm. It is available for sale or lease, with broad appeal thanks to its flexible usage approvals.
Although the business itself is not being sold as a going concern, Bobolas says the potential buyer is looking to carry on the site’s legacy with a similar “hospitality-cum-party-place” concept, featuring music and events.
“It’ll come with whatever’s fixed and bolted down,” he says. “Anything else belongs to the current owners – unless someone wants to negotiate.”
The property is zoned Low Impact Industry and carries extensive multi-use approvals, allowing for operations such as a distillery, bar, live music venue, theatre, art gallery, night market or educational facility.
As the Currumbin Waters precinct continues to grow and attract new retail operators and creative ventures, Bobolas believes the property is well-positioned for long-term success.
“The property presents a fantastic opportunity for a tenant or owner-operator to take advantage of the zoning and location to expand or reimagine their business in this popular area,” he says.
The Dust Temple is renowned for its diverse live music offerings, ranging from intimate acoustic sets to lively genre-spanning concerts supporting both local and international artists.
Every Saturday morning, it features free live original music, providing a relaxed start to the weekend with performances by local artists.
The Currumbin Waters Industrial Precinct is a sought-after hub offering a mix of modern and functional spaces – including warehouses, factories, showrooms and offices – with strong connections to the M1, major arterial roads and key suppliers.
Nearby Currumbin Alley is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular surf and swimming spots, thanks to its calmer wave conditions and lifeguard-patrolled beach.
