Matthew McCarthy was born in Sydney and moved to the Gold Coast in 1985. He attended The Southport School (TSS), where he enjoyed all sports, and graduated in 1990.

Matthew began his real estate career at a young age in a major Surfers Paradise franchise office, gaining hands-on experience in auctioneering, negotiating, marketing, and sales. Within a few years, he was approached to join an Australian funds management company operating in the property sector.

Over a 14-year period, Matthew held roles as Business Development Manager and Regional Manager across Sydney and Melbourne. His work involved collaborating closely with financial advisers, super funds, and financial platforms. He was also appointed to establish and operate the company’s London office, where he and his family lived from 2008 to 2012.

Upon returning to Australia in 2012, Matthew opened and operated a successful real estate business in Sorrento, Queensland, under his own licence. McCarthy Real Estate is now proudly partnered with First National Surfers Paradise.

Matthew’s leadership and expertise have contributed to the office being recognised as the Number 1 QLD First National Residential Sales Office of the Year.
