Hugh’s exceptional results across West Victoria earned him ResortBrokers’ Rookie of the Year award in his first year with the agency in 2025.

Since then, he has continued that momentum, bringing several multi-million-dollar listings to market and settling 19 sales with a combined asset value of more than $40 million, including $35 million in FY26 alone. Hugh’s energy in meeting operators and working the phones to get results for his clients earned him ResortBrokers’ Top Caller award for FY26.

Hugh’s notable transactions include:

- Hotel Bellinzona: a deluxe 63-key freehold going concern hotel in Hepburn Springs, sold to global timeshare operator Travel + Leisure

- Quest Ballarat Station: a 77-apartment Quest hotel — ResortBrokers’ largest-ever sale of a Quest business in Victoria

- Warrnambool Central Court Motel: a 40-key freehold going concern on the Great Ocean Road, sold off market

Hugh’s expertise across all asset classes — including freehold passives, freehold going concerns, leaseholds and development opportunities — has enabled him to successfully sell properties throughout West Victoria, from major regional centres such as Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo to smaller leisure destinations along the Great Ocean Road.

“High-level commercial skills, especially an ability to understand financial statements in detail, a genuine care for my clients and a solutions-orientated approach founded in a positive attitude, are key to being a successful broker,” says Hugh.

Prior to joining ResortBrokers, Hugh had a successful and varied business career, including 18 months as general manager at Colliers Western Region Victoria.

At Colliers, Hugh oversaw significant growth for the agency, formalising its presence in the Bendigo region and building on its established operations in Ballarat and Geelong.

Hugh’s initiatives at Colliers to spur development and profitability, as well as create a positive agency culture, contributed to Colliers Geelong winning the Real Estate Institute of Victoria’s 2023 Commercial Agency of the Year Award.

Before Colliers, Hugh spent almost four years, from 2019 to 2022, as regional business manager with APCO Service Stations, Australia’s largest independent fuel and convenience provider. During Hugh’s tenure, his region enjoyed unprecedented year-on-year growth despite the significant challenges of the pandemic.

Before APCO, Hugh spent almost three years at Aussie Farmers Direct, which supplies 100% Australian fresh produce to over 100,000 customers across the country each week, where he oversaw more than 60 franchise rounds.

In 2009, Hugh founded and built his own successful waste management franchise, Mobile Skips. By the time he sold the business in 2015, Hugh and his business partners had achieved $2 million in revenue, with operations in four states and a national partnership across 80 sites with Australia’s leading hardware chain.

When he is not spending time with his wife and three daughters, Hugh loves to surf off Thirteenth Beach at Barwon Heads on the Bellarine Peninsula, which the family have called home for the last six years. A keen follower of all sports, Melbourne-born Hugh is a diehard Bombers supporter.
