    The Daintree River:
    A magnificent pristine river system feed from the 3000mm annual rainfall in the heritage listed Daintree National Park.

    Access:Access is via the Vehicular Ferry crossing to the Bloomfield Road, then onto a council gazetted road, 4-wheel drive only.
    Private barge:Alternative access is via the Upper Daintree Road, crossing the river via your own private vehicle barge.The 20-tonne capacity barge is suitable for the owners 28ft body truck and is used for transport of livestock, crop produce and vehicles, according to a 4-hour tidal window each day. The truck can be loaded with 20head/trip and so can transport 5-6 loads of cattle during the tidal window. 

    Enterprise Information:The Daintree area is renowned for its pristine rainforest, rich soil, and lush pastures. However, business diversification opportunities are plentiful.
    Grazing is the predominant land use on the property.
    Farming irrigated cropping includes-
    Taro (Sweet Potato) root crop, production 80-100 tonnes pa., harvested year-round.
    Ginger root crop, production 20-25 tonnes pa., harvested Sept-Dec
    Turmeric root crop, production 10 tonnes pa., harvested Sept-Dec

    Packaged water water source via a license from both a waterfall and bore.The business case feasibility is completed, and council approval gained, for the harvesting and packaging of 'Daintree' water in a facility built on property. Currently the owners are establishing the most appropriate and cost-effective packaging products. The factory construction estimate is approx $3.0M. 
    Cattle:
    The pastures include Hamill Grass, Hymenachne, Para Grass, Guinea, Brachiaria and Setaria grasses. Vendors trading programme facilitates a turnover of approx 500 steers-to-bullock per year with an expected gross profit margin of $500-$600/head.
    The current programme is to buy steers at 300kg and retain them for up to 6 months until turnoff the entry weight and grazing conditions determine speed of turnoff and the best market ie. Meatworks or Live Export. 
    This is extremely fertile country requiring little supplementary feed and no pasture fertiliser input.
