In 2002 a covenant was put in place providing a buffer between developed agricultural
land and the Douglas Apsley National Park. In 2005 the covenant was declared a Private Nature Reserve, increasing its protected status above a standard covenant.
The covenant protects silver peppermint and black gum forest and also the threatened
species, Barbers gum and the Apsley heath. A gorse eradication programme has been completed on the entire property
This shack is the perfect hideaway for those wanting the peace and tranquility this property offers, yet only minutes away from Bicheno and some of the best beaches of the East Coast.
The shack has a kitchen with gas stove & oven, lounge (with wood heater) and laundry downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs.
A separate timber shed is located close by. Blindburn Creek (winter) runs through the block
