    Dorrigo is located on the Waterfall Way, rated as the third most beautiful tourist drive in Australia and the number one in New South Wales and only 64km* west of Coffs Harbour or a one hour drive. Dorrigo is the gateway to the World Heritage-listed Dorrigo National Park, and home to ancient rainforest and dramatic waterfalls. 580km* north of Sydney the town is situated on the Dorrigo Plateau near the New England Escarpment a part of the Great Dividing Range, 731m* above sea level, 128km* east of Armidale and 425km* south of Brisbane.

    Dorrigo is home to the planned Dorrigo Steam Railway and Museum which is not yet open to the public. It houses the largest collection of railway vehicles and memorabilia from the various Government and private railways of New South Wales. It is one of the most comprehensive railway collections in the world, with items in the collection ranging from 1855 to the present day. The museum is not open to the public however the larger items such as steam engines and carriages can be viewed from outside the property.
