The historic Renaissance Centre circa 1910 is one of largest development sites in Katoomba with a total land area of approximately 17,651m2 with vehicular access from two streets featuring a four storey building with a total floor area of approximately 3000m2. Originally, the Mount St Marys Convent was built for the Sisters of Charity for education and later sold and developed into an arts centre with restaurant and Japanese English school..
The building has been vandalised over many years and needs to be restored under the Heritage Council of NSW guidelines as part of developing suitable uses such as aged care/retirement accommodation, residential, tourism, educational, recreational and cultural. In 2010 the consent for "Lifestyle Village" development lapsed. This is the last undeveloped sites of this size, significance and location in Katoomba. Inspections by appointment.
