Located on the majestic Clarence River, a short distance from Yamba NSW, Palmers Island Mulloway Pty Ltd is situated on 17ha of water front land.
The site consists of 12 x 0.9 ha ponds, a settlement pond, a plastic lined reservoir and two small lined nursery ponds, a two bedroom caretakers cottage right on the river, a large processing facility and a large hatchery shed.
At any one time there is over 100T of Mulloway in the ponds consisting of three generations of fish. If these fish were to reach market size this would generate approximately $3.5M of sales over the next three years to a well established client base. Palmers Island Mulloway is now the only mulloway farm operating in Australia or overseas and achieves higher prices than wild caught fish or most other farmed fish in Australia.
The large processing facility has all the equipment needed for processing any type of fish or prawns and includes a prawn grader, cookers, IQF machines and two refrigerated shipping containers.
The large hatchery is a little run down but has approximate 440,000lt of combined tank space with massive potential to develop a side business in selling fingerlings, ornamentals or converting this to a large recirculation system that could potentially produce a further 100T a year.
The farm is very suitable for other marine species such as prawns, crabs and most temperate species of fin fish that are included on our licence. The warm year round temperatures of the Northern Rivers make for great growing conditions and anything is possible with a bit of start up capital.
Palmers Island Mulloway has appeared on almost every fine dining restaurant in Sydney and Brisbane over the last 6 years including many respected cooking shows and has gained a reputation for providing a quality product all year round.
Palmers Island Mulloway have all the licences and existing clients needed to simply walk straight in a start making sales. Current Managing Director is prepared to stay on for a pre-negotiated length of time to ensure new owners have all the intellectual property needed to successfully farm this species.
