Chinchilla is located 290 km west of Brisbane on the Warrego Highway between Miles and Dalby. It is a middle-sized service town for the surrounding agricultural district and services a population in excess of 5,800 residents of the shire. The town has grown into an attractive, clean and progressive community of approximately 3,700 people and boasts a high standard of education, recreation, retail and professional services.
