Notably the Budj Bim cultural landscape, was added to UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2019, prior to being listed in 2004 on the National Heritage Register for its importance in Indigenous history and geology. The National Park is also widely known for its fauna and flora and bush walking pursuits, particularly around Lake Surprise, its Volcanic Lake.
