Architectural Landmark awaits new lease of life
This unique opportunity comprises the local heritage listed Davaar House most recently known as TPI House.
Constructed in 1846, the two-storey mansion has been described as an exceptionally fine example of a residence built in the High Victorian Italianate Style.
Davaar was built as a grand residence on South Terrace overlooking the beautiful Adelaide parklands. Consisting of 14 rooms, pantries, cellars, larder and bathrooms, the house was fitted up with every requirement for comfort and convenience. The dining and drawing rooms featured elegant bay windows, and the ceilings furnished with enriched cornices and centre flowers. The entrance-hall was handsomely finished having the main blackwood staircase located in the rear of the hall. The archival photos show Davaar was indeed a truly grand and beautiful residence.
Unfortunately over time Davaar slowly lost its brilliance with numerous alterations, additions of modern construction, and later abandonment, leaving it looking in a less than impressive state. This leaves Davaar now awaiting its new owner to take on the task of returning the building to its former brilliance and unlocking a multitude of possibilities in terms of future use.
Some of the work has already commenced with various restoration / refurbishment works undertaken including the removal of the later additions, re-roofing, and minor internal restorations.
The property is for sale by negotiation.
