At a recent Shire meeting a popular recommendation to amend the local planning scheme affecting this land to change the proposed usage from urban development to light industry was moved and carried unanimously.
The Shire has verbally confirmed that it will actively pursue the amendment as its PREFERRED option (It's reasons clearly defined in a recent Council Agenda item)! It must be mentioned, that, although the Shires' preference is clear enough, ultimately the final zoning decision lies with the department of planning, but there are significant indications from the Department that this outcome would also align with its strategic objectives, and also without the need to alter its current Metropolitan Regional Scheme!
