TOP END CARAVAN PARK
Nestled between the mouth of the Endeavour River and Grassy Hill, with Mt Cook as a backdrop, Cooktown is a charming, historical town, unspoilt by the urgency of modern life. Its close proximity to the Endeavour and Annan Rivers, and nearby reefs, make it an ideal fishing destination. Cooktown is a good base for those wanting to do day trips north to Elim Beach, across to Laura, or south to Bloomfield, but it is too out of the way to reach many of the other attractions of the lower Cape (people with caravans leave them here at the Cooktown Caravan Park, to continue on to Cape York). Cooktown is known for is its well documented history, including the first known European contact with the Indigenous people of this region, after Captain Cook ran aground on some reefs off the coast. Later it became a bustling port, exporting gold from the Palmer River Goldfields, and had 47 licensed pubs within the town boundaries in 1874; today there are still a few along the main street to stop and grab a cold one.
Cooktown caravan park is Cooktown’s newest park and has been providing a quiet, shady and welcoming place to stay now for many hundreds of visitors since 2001. The park is situated on 5 acres* of natural bushland at the foothills of Mt Cook and is situated on the main road into Cooktown, approximately 1 km from the town centre.
The Office / Residence is a low set building consisting of 2 bedrooms, bathroom and toilet, laundry, kitchen, open plan dining and lounge. Attached to the front of the building is the administration/office which services the holiday park.
The Parks amenities block houses the ladies and gents bathrooms with a separate accessible bathroom with wheelchair access. A laundry facility is situated in the breezeway between the bathrooms. There is also a dish washing tub and bench, refrigerator. jug and toaster for guest use. Washing lines are situated to the rear and side of the Amenities Block which is situated in the centre of the park. A Caravan dump point is inconspicuously situated in the garden area beside the Amenities Block.

Shady camping sites are available with or without power and within close proximity to the Amenities and BBQ/Campfire area.
Large and smaller sites are available to accommodate 5th Wheelers, Motor Homes and Campervans. These are available with or without power. All are situated within close proximity to the Amenities.
Tour Groups are catered for within an area large enough to accommodate your mobile camp kitchen and a large number of tents. Power and water are available to this area.
For guests wishing to have a campfire, this facility is conveniently placed behind the Amenities Block where there is a BBQ/campfire place with firewood chopped and stacked for your convenience.
