Top West Australian wilderness resort Sal Salis put up for sale
Western Australia’s award winning beachside safari camp Sal Salis has hit the market.
The multi-million dollar business, which is located on 5.69 hectares in the Cape Range National Park, near Exmouth on the North-West Cape and overlooking the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, was named one of the world’s top-five places to stay by Lonley Planet in 2016.
After nine years, owners Sally and Stewart Cranswick are selling the unique tourism venture, which features 15 luxury eco-wilderness tents, to return to Zimbabwe.
Probably the resort’s highest-profile guests have been Pippa Middleton and her billionaire husband James Matthews, who reportedly stayed there on their honeymoon last year.

Selling agent Phil Hayes, of Caporn Young, said the quality and unique nature of the resort had attracted strong interest from buyers in Australia and overseas.
He said Sal Salis offered guests a unique nature holiday experience.
“It sits in a national park with the ability to swim on a fringing reef directly off the beach,” he said.
“It’s the perfect place to stay in absolute luxury while ticking off the bucket list of swimming with whale sharks and whales.”
Ningaloo Reef is renowned for its marine life, which includes about 300 varieties of corals and 700 reef fish species.
Operating under a lease from WA’s Parks and Wildlife Service, Sal Salis is about 1330 kilometres north of Perth.
The current lease is in place until 2025 and returns about $600,000 annually.
With a strong interstate and international clientele, many bookings are already in place for 2019 when the resort’s tariffs are set to increase.
The eco-resort is accessible via Exmouth’s Learmonth Airport.

Operating from March to October where the minimum stay is two nights, guests stay in the ‘wilderness’ or ‘honeymoon’ tents, which are set among sand dunes. They are treated to chef prepared meals and snacks, beverages and guided wilderness activities.
Other features include a staff accommodation area, a lodge, a kitchen and meals-preparation area.
Sal Salis has been certified Nature Tourism by Ecotourism Australia for its minimal impact on the environment.
