Stockland launches personal shopping services in malls

Stockland has launched a new personal shopping service to help ease the concerns of nervous consumers who are coming out of their coronavirus hibernation and back into malls.

Known as Deliver on Demand, it is an online marketplace that the retail landlord says will offer more convenience and choice for customers looking for one-on-one help.

The app-based service aims to connect people with local retailers at a Stockland centre, allowing them to order items from multiple shops on a single platform.

It comes as many of the major landlords expand their digital and physical shopping offerings in line with the social distancing concerns. Westfield Direct and Mirvac Express have been recently launched to offer drive-through, contactless click-and-collect services.

Stockland Burleigh Heads and Stockland Townsville in Queensland, as well as Stockland Balgowlah in New South Wales, are operating the DOD service.

Michelle Abbey, general manager of retail at Stockland, said it was integral that Australian shopping centres continued to evolve and adapt to best serve their customers, “particularly as retailers and the global marketplace face new challenges”.
