CIBO Espresso began in 2000, but the desire to provide a 'simply Italian' experience for customers was born years earlier with the opening of CIBO Ristorante in Adelaide in 1996. The restaurant quickly became a dining landmark in Adelaide and was renowned for its high quality, traditional Italian menu which included its outstanding coffee, cakes, pastries, gelato, pizza and wood oven bread made on the premises.
Authentic Italian espresso bar culture was almost non-existent in Australia at the time, however, the founding partners of CIBO Ristorante were convinced that the market was ready and opened their first CIBO Espresso in Adelaide CBD's, Rundle Street. Coffee lovers were quick to catch on to the premium Arabica CIBO Espresso blend that poured from the espresso machine day and night.
At CIBO, we believe that great people are the key to great service - we look for staff members who are passionate and proud about providing outstanding customer service. It was this passion that attracted Retail Zoo Pty Ltd (the holding company of Australian brands, Boost Juice and Salsas) to acquire Cibo Espresso in 2012. Retail Zoo and CIBO Espresso have now opened 32 stores across South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria with large expansion plans underway.

CIBO Espresso has an amazing in-house marketing team who regularly work with our franchise partners to deliver fun and exciting campaigns that engage with customers and ensure that the business experiences contintuous growth and brand recognition.
New CIBO Espresso franchise partners are required to participate in a comprehensive four-week training course prior to operating a CIBO Espresso business. The training is delivered by our dedicated Learning and Development team and covers the key areas of operating a CIBO Espresso store including front-of-house operations and back-of-house management.

Length of Agreement
When purchasing a new store, the term of the franchise agreement with CIBO Espresso is seven years and commences on the date the store begins trading. When purchasing an existing store, applicants will have their own franchise agreement with CIBO, but will take over the existing franchise partner's months or years remaining on their agreement. Partners are also able to sell their store at any time, you do not need to wait until the end of your agreement to sell your store.
