Tasmanian Souvenirs & Gifts Salamanca Markets $130,000
Tasmanian Souvenirs and Gifts at Salamanca Market is an iconic souvenir stall of long standing. It is patronized by domestic and overseas travellers; locals sending gifts to family and friends overseas or heading overseas themselves, and students studying locally taking souvenirs home. The demographic changes throughout the year.
While Tasmanian souvenirs are the mainstay of the business, Australian souvenirs are also in great demand. We currently employ a Chinese speaking assistant during peak periods to cater to the needs of the growing Chinese tourist market. We also cater to the large number of European patrons the market attracts.
The stall has had only three owners in its 23 years at the market and has been in its current location, near the Silos for 15 years. The location is prime as it is a drop off point for tour buses and shuttle buses. It is the largest souvenir stall on the market and has a vast range of offerings to sell to patrons.
The stall includes a sturdy, sign written van and a number of foldout annexes to provide shelter in inclement weather.
Plush Australian Animals are a large part of the business and while we sell imported plush too, we sell the only Australian Made plush available on the market and demand is growing steadily.
Since being acquired by the current owners, the stall has undergone significant development in fit-out, display and range. This is reflected in the steady growth of turnover and profit during this period. New owners would have scope for further growth particularly in the area of locally made and Australian made souvenirs, which are increasingly sought after and attract a premium price.
The products currently on sale include the full range of souvenir standbys including: fridge magnets, tea-towels, key rings, aboriginal artefacts, napery, drink ware, snow globes, tea-spoons, playing cards and much, much more
